“Whisky A GoGo Sunset Strip veterans Prima Donna Rising were on full display Sunday night on the hallowed stage at the Whisky A GoGo. I've seen this band multiple times, and they always put on a fantastic show - equal parts kick-ass rock & roll, expert musicianship, in-your-face attitude and stage presence, and a theatrical lead singer that hits amazing notes that astound your ears while simultaneously keeping your eyes transfixed. As great as Kimble Ouerbacker is on vocals, this band is no one trick pony. Steve Sunnarborg on guitar is an incredible player - soaring notes and rock star brashness implore you to get as close to the stage as you can while he pushes his six-string away from his body and into your face. Tony Shibumi on 6 string bass and Greg Collister on drums really keep the train on the tracks in perfect synchronicity and provide a unique rhythm that begs you to raise the horns in the air and bang your head. Hekar Rivera adds the final magic on keyboards and strings that propels the music over the edge and gives it a distinctive sound that no other band in LA can deliver.
